ABIPA experts analyzed the specific aspects of the cargo, picked the adequate mean of transportation, developed the tie-down and protection schemes, and prepared the list of all the necessary shipping and customs documents.
In the course of multimodal transportation project realization, 8 standard trucks and 3 low-loaders for oversized parts were needed. The optimal route was developed based on cargo safety and logistic costs.
During the first stage, 72 units were placed in trucks, the cargo was delivered in Lithuania where it was trans-loaded and shipped to the recipient in the Russian town of Verkhnyaya Salda.
During the second stage, oversized and heavy parts of the lathe were transported by sea, from the seaport of Bilbao to Saint Petersburg where they were trans-loaded into 2 low-loaders and delivered to the client.
Avoiding delays and additional costs on route was made possible due to setting up a temporary customs control zone on the premises of the receiving plant, as well as preparing a complete list of documents for each part of the lathe and each transport vessel, in accordance with the current customs legislation.
The delivery was followed by shipping similar equipment which is currently in active use in the VSMPO-AVISMA company plant.
